Cabinet Maker in Scottsdale, AZ

What cabinet work do Scottsdale's 1980s and 1990s homes usually need?

Scottsdale's homes are older than they look. In this city, 43.8% of housing went up in the 1980s and 1990s (ACS 2020-2024 estimates). Many of those kitchens still carry their original builder-grade boxes, now 25 to 45 years old and past the service life of particleboard and thermofoil.

Scottsdale's median home value is $789,800 and 67.0% of homes are owner-occupied (Census ACS, 2020-2024). Desert Forge Cabinets builds full custom cabinetry, and the scope and price for your home come from the free in-person estimate. Architectural molding, like a coffered ceiling, can be scoped alongside a kitchen at the same free estimate.

Do I need a permit for new cabinets in Scottsdale?

No. The City of Scottsdale's Home Improvement page lists kitchen cabinets, countertops, millwork and trim work as projects that skip the building-permit process. The job still needs Planning Department approval to confirm it meets code and is not in a setback or easement. That check-in at the One Stop Shop counter is flagged at your free estimate, so it is part of the custom cabinetry plan and not a surprise.

How does Scottsdale's summer heat affect garage cabinets?

Scottsdale's July average high is 104.1 F, per NOAA's 1991-2020 normals, so garage and patio-adjacent cabinets need heat-tolerant adhesives and catalyzed finishes rated above standard interior product. Rainfall drops to 0.05 inches in June. It then jumps to 0.90 inches in July as the monsoon arrives, and that humidity swing moves solid wood doors. Wood choice and install timing are part of what gets walked through at the estimate.
